• Held in Foz do Iguaçu/Paraná, the 1st World Renewable Energy Forum, organized by Itaipu Binacional, the Ministry of Mines and Energy - MME, Eletrobras and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization - UNIDO.

• Implemented, at ITAIPU Binacional, the Advisory Council for Renewable Energy (ER.GB), with the purpose to demonstrate the technical, economic and environmental uses of renewable energy sources.

• Signed a Memorandum of Understanding for technical cooperation between UNIDO, Eletrobras and ITAIPU Binacional, creating the Observatory for Renewable Energy for Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

• Signed the project for modeling and construction of the Biogas Laboratory at the Itaipu Technology Park - PTI.

 

• Implemented, by ITAIPU Binacional and PTI, the Biogas Study Center, in order to manager actions, social demands and technologies related to biogas.

 

• Implemented, at PTI, the Biogas Laboratory, with methodological reference from the University of Natural Resources and Life Applied Sciences / Boku, Vienna - Austria, held in partnership with the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation - EMBRAPA.

• Letter sent by the Brazilian Director General of ITAIPU Binacional to the Director General of UNIDO proposing the creation, at PTI, of a International Center on Renewable Energy-Biogas, to be structured following the UNIDO International Technology Centers (ITC).

• Proposal accepted by UNIDO.

• Representatives nominated by the Institutions to implement CIBiogás.

 

• Signed, by 17 institutions, the Protocol of Intention JD.JE/0023/12, at the Conference Rio + 20, to prepare the Economic Viability Study on CIBiogás.

 

• Economic Viability Study presented, by CERTI Foundation, to implement CIBiogás.

• CIBiogás Constitution Document signed by the partners institutions.

 

• Promoted, at PTI, the First International Seminar on Biogas, with purpose to discuss public policies related to diffusion and implementation of biogas in sectors on energy, agriculture and environment in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The event counted with representatives from Austria, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Uruguay.
